LG
has just announced their flagship smartphone at a lavish event in New
York. But can it compare with the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One? Here
are the five features we love so-far about the LG G2.
LG may be the company behind the Google branded Nexus 4, but this time they're going it alone with the G2. Looking to go head-to-head with the Samsung Galaxy S4, Nokia Lumia 1020, HTC One and iPhone 5. Can
this latest Android smartphone come out on top? We've rounded up our
favourite five features of the LG G2 and why not check out our full hands-on review for a more in-depth look.
1. LG G2 - Display
The LG G2 boasts a 5.2-inch, Full HD 1080p screen – which uses an IPS
LCD rather than AMOLED of say the recently announced Moto X. LG claim
the device is designed to be used single handedly, due to the
dramatically reduced bezels on each side. With a resolution of 1,080 x
1,920 and 423 ppi, this display should look glorious.
2. LG G2 - Camera
As with the majority of modern smartphones, two cameras are provided
on the G2. The rear shooter is 13-megapixels, using Optical Image
Stabilising (OIS) to ensure your snaps are clear and without blur –
perfect for situations when the light isn’t the best. Multi-point AF
keeps everything in focus, while a 2.1-megapixel front-facing cam will
make sure even your selfies look crystal clear.
3. LG G2 - Rear Key
LG has done something rather unusual in the design of this phone, by
moving the power and volume control keys from the sides, to the rear.
They say this is so you can hold the device in one hand, without having
to stretch your fingers.
4. LG G2 - Speed
Powering this big-screened device is the top-of-the-line 2.26GHz
Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, which should improve performance
while hopefully keeping the battery running as long as possible. Paired
with the speedy processor is 2GB RAM, along with Graphic RAM to allow
for more energy efficient use.
5. LG G2 - UX Interface & IR Blaster
Running Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2, the G2 is packed to the brim with
LG customisations and their Practical UX– that could even rival
Samsung’s Galaxy devices for most added extras. There’s everything from a
guest mode – perfect if you don’t want your mate seeing your photos to
Answer Me – which automatically answers the phone when you raise it to
your ear. Quick Remote uses the IR blaster, similar to the ones included
on the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One, to control your home TV set-up.
One nifty addition is Slide Aslide, basically this allows you to use a
three-finger swiping gesture to dismiss an app you’re no longer using.
